The click of an ice cream scoop is the sound of instant happiness coming from the hands of Claire Taylor at 3 Dips Ice Cream Shoppe in Miamisburg.

“I love making people happy,” Taylor said.

Taylor is in her fifth year with 3 Dips. She said she loves her connection with customers.

“The people, the community, the small-town feel and my boss is amazing,” she said.

Over the next week, that connection is only going to grow stronger thanks to the Big Chill Ice Cream Fest organized by Planned2Give.

Coupon books sold for $25 to 10 local ice cream shops. Tickets are traded in for scoops of the good stuff.

The proceeds from the books then go directly to Dayton Children’s Hospital.

“What we decided was to take the guilt out of eating ice cream and support the Dayton Children’s hospital,” said co-founder of Planned2Give Jeff Jackson.

Customers are already cashing those coupons in.

"I’ve donated to Children’s before and this just seemed like a fun way to donate to them,” customer Robin Jones said.

Knowing that each scoop she serves is going to a good cause is something that brings Claire Taylor joy.

“When I’m not here, I work in healthcare so I completely support this, love that, love this,” Taylor said. “Makes me feel great that we’re helping out kids and helping out others.”
