COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus City Council approved a vaccine initiative Monday night that will make some residents eligible to win some money. 

Dubbed the "Vaccine Green" program, individuals would get $50 for the first dose and $50 for the second dose, totaling $100. Those who get Johnson & Johnson would get the full amount. 

But residents have to get the vaccine after Monday to be eligible.

The program will be run by the Columbus Urban League. Residents will need to enter their information through the organization's website to get the money. 

City council said they have $275,000 to give out, which means 2,750 people will get the money. 

This is the latest push to try and increase vaccination rates in the state. The Vax-a-Million lottery, launched in May, will have its second-to-last drawing this Wednesday. Individuals who entered have a chance to win $1 million or a full-ride scholarship. 

Other states have taken similar measures to the lottery, such as Kentucky, which launched it's own “Shot At A Million” program. Other states including Colorado, Maryland, New York state and Oregon are doing similar programs. 

According to state data, 46.6% of the population has received the first dose and 42% are completely vaccinated. 

In Franklin County, 49.8% of residents have received the first dose and 44.9% are completely vaccinated.
