COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio has added Pennsylvania to its travel advisory list, and Pennsylvania did the same with Ohio.

That means anyone traveling from and to these states are recommended to quarantine for 15 days.

The states added to the travel advisory list have a 15% COVID-19 positivity.

Other states on Ohio's list:

  • Alabama
  • Iowa
  • Idaho
  • Wisconsin
  • Kansas
  • Montana
  • North Dakota
  • Mississippi
  • Utah
  • Wyoming

The latest addition comes as Gov. Mike DeWine has issued new orders in the state following spikes in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations over the last two weeks.

Ohio reported 5,874 cases Wednesday, following 6,500 — a new record high for the state. More than 2,800 Ohioans were hospitalized Wednesday, and doctors say hospitals are nearing max capacity.

DeWine addressed the state Wednesday night, urging Ohioans to get back to the basics — wear masks, social distance and avoid mass gatherings.

“We’ve learned throughout this pandemic what happens today sometimes won’t reveal its full impact for weeks. This is certainly true of hospitalizations. And sadly it’s also true of deaths, leaving us with the stark reality that we simply won’t know the ultimate fate of individuals that are diagnosed today with COVID for weeks or even months," DeWine said during the briefing.

DeWine issues new orders for businesses, saying they must post signs requiring face masks and mandate each employee and customer wear one. He also warned orders could be coming for bars, restaurants and gyms next week.

All 88 counties remain under the "high incidence spread" category, meaning there's been more than 100 cases per 100,000 residents in each county for two weeks straight.
