First, she is a wife and mother of three. She is also a Magistrate at the Akron Municipal Court.

Her kids range in age from six to twelve. Her middle son, Joey, has down syndrome. About five years ago Jennifer started the Akron chapter of Buddy Up. An adaptive tennis program for children and adults with down syndrome.

Add advocate to her hat collection. She's also part of the 10-percent of people who can call themselves a veteran.

“You know, it's a very small group,” said Hon. Towell.

Magistrate Towell started her legal career serving in the United States Navy as a JAG Lieutenant in the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard Naval Legal Services Office. While serving as a JAG officer she was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps  achievement medal, the national defense service medal and a navy pistol sharpshooter ribbon.

Her life has been dedicated to serving in one capacity or another, and she says it runs in her blood.

“My parents were very much like 'to whom mush is given much is expected,'” said Hon. Towell.

Veteran's Day is a day to honor all who have served in the armed forces just like Towell. She believes the honor is all hers.

“It just makes you go to bed at night and feel satisfied and feel fulfilled. It really kind of fills your heart up,” said Towell.

Just as service was passed down through her parents, she hopes to instill the same kind of passion in her kids, which is why they're always along for the ride.

"If you have the capability, it's your duty to help them," said Hon. Towell.

This veteran, magistrate, wife and mom of three is clearly doing something right.

"Oh, gosh," said Hon. Towell's oldest son, Tommy. "I'm so proud of her. She's incredible."
