KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Bill Olson is a decorated veteran who served 27 years and is running to defeat Rep. Darren Soto who has served two terms in Congress and is going for a third.
Prior to congress, Soto served in the Florida House of Representatives and Florida Senate.
Soto spoke to Spectrum News 13 about what he’s worked on during his term.
“Whether it is I am bringing in SunRail or Valencia Poinciana college, whether it was opening the new Advanced Manufacturing Center at Neo City in Osceola County … I continue to be focused on improving the lives of all of you,” Soto said.
After retiring from the Army, Olson went on to become a cast member for Disney. He said working in the Hall of Presidents inspired him to run for congress.
“As I was sitting there I was thinking, 'Listen, just because I’ve hung up the uniform it doesn’t mean that I’ve been released from that oath,' so I decided I was going to [run]," Olson said. "Things were not going so well here."
Clay Hill is a write-in candidate in this race registered as an Independent. Spectrum News 13 reached out to him but has not heard back. We could not locate his campaign website and there isn’t too much information out there on Hill. But more information can be round on his Ballotpedia page.
