LANCASTER, Ohio — The Second Annual Trail of Scarecrows is in full swing in Fairfield County.

Driving through Lancaster, people will see dozens of scarecrow displays, including glass-blowing scarecrows outside of the Ohio Glass Museum.

“We’re really super proud to be a very integral part of the history of glass blowing, so of course, we’re going to make glass blowing scarecrow,” said studio manager Theresa Sharp.

It’s a fun, socially distant activity that’s even earned Fairfield County the title, “Scarecrow Capital of Ohio,” according to Visit Fairfield County marketing director Fran Tiburzio.

There are many scarecrow contests all over the world, but this is the only countywide scarecrow contest.

And with such a wide-spread activity, the Visit Fairfield County app is available to help.

“It will map the scarecrows for you, so you can look right at it and say, ‘OK, here’s Lancaster, I want to see all these.’ It works really, really easy and you can also vote,” said Tiburzio.

Voting may be done by scanning the QR code on each scarecrow’s sign, or by going to the 2020 Trail of Scarecrows- Facebook page. Voting will go until the end of October.
