WASHINGTON, D.C. — Representative Joyce Beatty, a Columbus-area Democrat, ended up on the receiving end of pepper spray during a George Floyd protest in Ohio’s capital city last weekend.
In a wide-ranging interview with me on Tuesday, Beatty (D, 3rd Congressional District) discussed her experience, the death of George Floyd, the protests happening across the country, and the impact this is having on the coronavirus.
As one of Ohio’s two black members of Congress and the current vice chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, Beatty also talked about what steps black lawmakers will be taking in response to this latest example of police brutality.
