What You Need To Know
Madison Bell told her mom Sunday morning she was going tanning at the Country Corner Market. But when her mom didn’t hear from her after about an hour, she was concerned. The Highland County Sheriff’s office was called and they later found Madison’s car in this church’s parking lot, close by to the market, with the keys in the ignition and her phone on the seat.
"I can only imagine what the family is going through at this moment," Highland County Sheriff Donald Barrera said. "But they’re desperate. They’re reaching out to every avenue that they have and everyone that they can get this information out to trying to find their daughter.”
Sheriff Barrera says his detectives have been working until 2 a.m. each day since Madison went missing.
"They've all been in high profile cases where you have to stay and put in long hours to solve the case and this is one where we’re putting that extra effort in to find peace for the family," he said.
The one spark of hope the sheriff’s office has is this white car that officials believe is a Nissan Sentra with California tags- it was seen in the church’s parking lot Sunday morning around the time Madison disappeared.
"If we can find out where the vehicle is and who had that vehicle that particular day and what it was doing at the church parking lot, then I think it’s going to be key to what’s going on," Sheriff Barrera said.
Just days before Madison’s high school graduation, many in the community continue to look for her. The sheriff has one final message for the 18-year-old.
"If Madison’s out there watching this somewhere that so many people do care and they just want to hear from her to let law enforcement or let her family know that she is okay," he said.
The sheriff says they’ve been getting plenty of calls in about Bell’s disappearance, but he says if you know any information at all to call the Highland County Sheriff's Office at 937-393-1421 or the Ross County Sherrif's Office at 740-773-1185.
