AKRON, Ohio — For more than 20 years, "Deck the Hall" at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens has become a holiday tradition.
- This year's theme is "A Classic Comic Hero"
- Nineteen rooms in the manor house are decorated from top to bottom with superheroes
- “Deck the Hall” is open on select nights now through December 30
The 70-acre estate features more than 1.2 million Christmas lights and more than 80 beautifully decorated trees in the Manor House.
Every year, the event showcases a different theme.
This year, nineteen rooms in the Manor House are decked out from top to bottom with your favorite classic comic book heroes.
Heroes such as Superman, Batman and Catwoman are featured in the historic home.
"Our theme was art and we're really focused on Gertrude's love for the arts, and so the classic comic book superhero theme kind of tied in because we're really focusing on the artistry of comic books and the superheroes that are in them," said Sean Joyce, president and executive director of Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens.
Crews started planning for the event at the beginning of the year, and decorating began in October.
Close to 50,000 people are expected to visit the historic estate this holiday season.
"Our team in the house does a great job planning all year long for the exhibit," said Joyce. "We make a different experience every season for folks to come. For those who haven't been here before, I assure you, you won't be disappointed… people that come for the first time are just amazed at how great it really is."
"Deck the Hall" is open on select nights now through December 30.
The estate is open for tours during regular winter hours.
