MASON, Ohio — When Bill Kraimer got hurt skating, it was enough to take anyone out.
- Bill Kraimer skates for an audience made up of people driving by in Mason
- Almost every day when he’s not working as a realtor, he rollerblades on street corners to disco music
- He keeps on going, despite a fall that resulted in a cracked rib
“I fell on my ribs on the concrete… I cracked my ribs… I just couldn’t skate anymore,” said Kraimer.
But when you’re the Disco Rollerblade Man, the show must go on.
Almost every day when he’s not working as a realtor, he rollerblades on street corners —to disco music.
The kind of music that you skated to back when he learned how to do all those spins and tricks.
“Many years ago, I saw a rollerblade tape in the 80s and it showed a couple key things of how to get up on your heels and toes, and that was the secret,” said Kraimer.
Now he spins for an audience in suburban Cincinnati — skating fans who just happen to be driving by.
His street corner skating making him an instant favorite on the streets of Mason.
“People tell me it brings joy to them, and frankly it brings joy to me, and it’s just a fun interaction with people and they bring me energy, and I think I bring them energy,” said Kraimer.
That’s what he says keeps him going even after he fell and cracked a rib rollerblading.
He says he plans to keep rollerblading in the streets.
