DAYTON, OH– Cherish Cronmiller remembers Lois Oglesby as a doting mother. Oglesby’s mother, LaSandra, has been a long-time friend and co-worker of hers at a Dayton-area non-profit.

  • One of the victims of Sunday's shooting tragedy in Dayton was a 27-year-old mother of two, who was studying to be a nurse.
  • A Dayton organization with ties to the victim is reaching out to the community for not only help with funeral costs, but for the long term care of her children.
  • MVCAP of Dayton has already raised $5,000

“Co-workers and everyone else here watched her child grow up and her grandchildren grow up so we’re a close family and so when tragedy hits one of us, it really has a deep effect,” says Cronmiller.

Cronmiller says the 27-year-old was out Saturday night for the first time after her daughter’s birth.

“She was just celebrating with friends, and she was in nursing school because she wanted the very best for her children. You know we don’t have a word in the English language for parents that lose children,” says Cronmiller.

Cronmiller started a fundraiser for the family, and the more than $5,000 that has been raised, will help pay for the funeral, along with food, clothing, and education for Oglesby’s two girls.

“We want to lift her up and wrap her and her family in our prayers and in our hearts and we’re going to do and take care of anything she need,” says Cronmiller.
