LEBANON, Ohio – The Lebanon, Mason and Monroe Railroad (LM&M) has been offering train rides in southwest Ohio since 1985.
- LM&M has been operating since 1985
- Operates one of the oldest GP7 locomotives in the U.S
- Various experiences and excursions throughout the year
A variety of excursions and experiences keep bring people back.
“We have a lot of people here that enjoy railroading,” said Matt Fruchey, LM&M Engineer and Train Master. “And it's a great opportunity for us to share it with other people.”
Guests can get up close and personal in the locomotives. One, a 1950 GP7, is the oldest continuously operated one of its kind in the U.S.
But the different type of train rides are what bring in people of all ages.
“We do murder mystery trains on weekends. We hire actors and partner with local restaurants and those are a lot of fun. We do beer and pizza trains, bourbon trains. We do some themed trains with the kids characters like Curious George and Super Y.”
Halloween in the fall is also popular for the railroad as is its North Pole Express at Christmastime.
LM&M is working on updates to its schedule. Regular rides are available on certain days of the week and character-driven rides are generally operated on weekends. Traditional ride prices are $15 for adults, $11 for seniors and children ages 2 to 17. If you want to enjoy air conditioning the cost is an additional $5.
Prices for speciality rides like Meet Curious George and others are slightly higher.
The caboose is also available for rental in June and July on select dates.
Most regular trips are about 1 hour in length.
