We've been playing the waiting game this afternoon and evening, watching showers and storms move in across the state. The main threats so far have been heavy rain and gusty winds. Of course, the winds were gusty enough to warrant a wind advisory through the early evening, with some areas receiving gusts over 45 mph. Severe weather is still possible, as the W and NW portions of the state are in the slight risk through the evening. We'll be watching for heavy rain, gusty winds and small hail.

After the sun goes down, the severe threat diminishes, and becomes zero after midnight. Showers and lingering sprinkles will remain in the forecast through the early morning hours in Monday. Once the cold front moves through, we'll clear things out and dry things up Monday afternoon, with mostly sunny skies returning by Tuesday.

An almost "Floridian" pattern moves in by the middle and late part of the week, with highs in the 80s and even 90s (south) and a chance for a few pop-up afternoon and evening thunderstorms. We'll cool down slightly as we head into next weekend, with highs back into the 70s.

There are two main parts to our weather story in Ohio today, wind and the chance for severe weather. Let's start with wind. Gusts even outside of any rain or storms could get up to 45 mph and there will be a very long period of gusty winds.  This kind of wind can cause tree and power line damage. Storms will begin to fire up in western Ohio around 2 pm and track east. Best chance for severe storms with hail and damaging winds will be in the northwestern/western part of the state. As these storms move east towards evening the threat lessens because it will be moving in closer to sunset. But remember, even damaging wind gusts will be possible even under dry skies today. Storms will start to lose their energy and severity after sunset and we'll switch to scattered showers overnight with a few rumbles possible. Temperatures today will also be interesting because they will be warmest in the east where Cleveland will be within a few degrees of record heat for May 19th. Monday and Tuesday will be drier and much cooler with seasonable afternoon highs around 70°. Showers and a few storms will be possible Tuesday night into Wednesday with our first chance for 90° temperatures on Thursday and Friday.
