Columbus, Ohio – Spectrum Networks will present “Guns In Ohio: Schools Under Fire,” an exclusive documentary that will examine gun violence on school campuses in Ohio and present both sides of the hotly-debated issue of arming school officials to combat future tragedies. “Guns In Ohio: Schools Under Fire” will air on Spectrum News 1 at 7 PM on April 10 and be followed by a half-hour open discussion with local community members.

Narrated by Spectrum News 1 Anchor Curtis Jackson, the 30-minute special will give viewers a first-hand account of the trauma suffered by students who are victims of gun violence and their families. The documentary will also go one-on-one with high school officials from two schools that made immediate changes, including arming teachers. “Guns In Ohio: Schools Under Fire” will also look at how organizations like FASTER Saves Lives are educating administrators on the ramifications of arming school officials.

Following the documentary, Spectrum News 1 Anchor Curtis Jackson will host a community discussion on gun violence on school campuses. Guests will include: FASTER Saves Lives Program Director Joe Eaton; Ohio Federation of Teachers President Melissa Cropper; West Liberty-Salem Local School District Superintendent Kraig Hissong; and University of Cincinnati Professor Brian Calfano, Ph.D.
