Ohio State Representative and Minority Leader Emilia Sykes (D-34) says her district is known as “the birthplace of champions.”

In her Know Your Electeds interviews, Sykes praises her district’s ability to come together as a community, especially at a time when “folks seem to be very divided.” She also says the biggest lesson she’s learned so far is to “listen more, talk less.”

Sykes has represented Ohio's 34^th district since 2015. If she weren’t a state representative, she’d be the principal dancer at Alvin Ailey.
