This weekend on In Focus, we’re opening a conversation on tackling food insecurity across upstate New York.

JoDee Kenney was joined by state Sen. Michelle Hinchey.

Hinchey spoke about how New York has food deserts across the state, not just in urban areas. She has been working with her legislative colleagues on programs that build connections between farmers and residents.

Hinchey voiced her support for universal school meals and expanding the farm to school program to include breakfast and a snack. Hinchey is also pushing for at least $75M for the Nourish NY program. Hinchey says their is no better investment than investing in nutrition. She encouraged viewers to look into their local food banks if they are in need.
