The United Negro College Fund looked at the economic impact that HBCUs is having in Ohio.
Steve Miller, with UNCF, said the group’s mission is to support and enrich the lives of young minority Ohioans as they begin their journey through college.
Miller explained the group continues to advocate for the students on capitol hill and among local leaders.
“The thing that’s most important about the impact of UNCF here in Ohio, and nationally, is that these are talented minority students that are college educated that can go into corporations and organizations in the community and create jobs, create impact,” he said.
UNCF provides college scholarships to local minority students who attend a two or four year institution.
Miller explained some of the ways that UNCF reaches out to economic leaders in the state in order to ensure that the nonprofit continues to receive funding for Ohio’s minority students.
