The Ohio Department of Health reports that over 81% of unintentional drug overdoses in 2020 involved fentanyl.
State leaders are growing increasingly concerned about the impact the drug is having on Ohio cities. U.S. Rep. Bob Latta (R) talked with In Focus host, Mike Kallmeyer, about what he is doing to help in Washington.
Latta is working to get the HALT Fentanyl Act passed.
“Fentanyl is the drug of choice, unfortunately now, that the cartel is sending north,” he said. “What we are seeing now is that the cartels are killing Americans for 10 cents.”
Latta is working to ensure that fentanyl is always a schedule 1 drug, to help law enforcement prosecute people at the highest level.
