Ohio Rep. Catherine Ingram, D-Cincinnati, serves as a member of the House Finance Committee, and although she says the Inflation Reduction Act will not lower gas prices by September, it’s a step in the right direction.

“Everything we do now is impacting the future,” she said.

Fighting poverty and workforce development in Ohio are two of Ingram’s top priorities.

“We’ve got more children in poverty than ever and we need to be working at not just creating jobs but creating ways that we’re sustainable in Ohio as far as creating entrepreneurships and things of that nature that get down to the local level,” she said.

As Ohioans deal with inflation, Ingram believes, “we need to stop talking about a minimum wage and start talking about a livable wage.”
