Johnstown Mayor Chip Dutcher joined Mike Kallmeyer to offer hyperlocal insight into Johnstown's efforts to embrace the project. Dutcher said leaders are trying to address the increasing anxiety level of people around town, and said there is fear of the unknown, but his office plans to welcome new people with open arms.
"Johnstown has welcomed people since 1813,” he said.
The mayor said Johnstown will double the size of its water and sewer plants to accommodate new residents, and draws the distinction between the plant's needs and those of his residents. Dutcher said the water and sewer plant expansion is being done independent of any of the needs of the massive semiconductor plant being built just beyond his city's view.
