One month after California fully reopened, counties like Los Angeles are implementing an indoor mask mandate as the delta variant continues to rise in Southern California.
In this week's "In Focus SoCal," host Tanya McRae sits down with City of La Verne Mayor Tim Hepburn to learn how his city has been handling reopening, including continuing al fresco dining on D Street.
"I want to see people shopping in La Verne and I want to see people eating in La Verne and really using all the services that we provide for our residents and to make sure our businesses survive. Because if they survive, we do well," said Hepburn, who is also a small business owner.
McRae also visits Runway Playa Vista and talks to multiple shop owners to see how business has picked up since the June 15 reopening.
"There's just been a shift in people's personalities and their energy," said Shay Merchav, co-owner of Beauty Beach Lounge. "You look out the window, and it's just swarming with people outside, the farmer's market, the camps, the music that's outside, the energy that comes into the salon."
Spectrum News 1's Tara Lynn Wagner also joins the conversation and shares how small theaters are struggling financially and why advocates are asking state leaders to pass Senate Bill 805.
