COLUMBUS, Ohio — Brian Stewart, Pickaway County Commissioner and newly-elected State Representative of Ohio's 78th District, joins Mike to discuss his time in the service and what he believes should change to make life better for veterans.

"We've got great Veterans Service Commissions all across the state; roughly 440 commissioners across 88 counties that are in charge of all of these funds, millions of dollars for veterans,” he said. “We've only got about 20 percent statewide of those commissioners post 9/11 Iraq or Afghanistan veterans.

“We need more younger veterans in a position of leadership on these Veterans Service Commissions. In my district, it's 10 percent; in some districts, it's zero percent. We need to do a better job, we need to update the statutes to allow and encourage younger veterans to serve in these leadership positions on a county-by-county basis."
