It’s not just mothers who are affected by the state’s health gaps. In Ohio, black infants are dying at three times the rate as white infants and according to the Ohio Department of Health, nearly 1,000 babies did not live to see their first birthday in 2017. A newly created office is now dedicated to helping give support and healthcare to moms and kids.
