Schnormeier Gardens comprises 75 acres of carefully curated trees, flowers and structures. It draws thousands of visitors each year and it’s only open during the month of June.

Schnormeier Gardens was started in 1996 by Ted Schnormeier and his late wife, Ann.

“We met on a blind date. And she told me years later that the moment she saw me coming up the steps to her place, she said, ‘That's the man I'm gonna marry.’ And a few months later, we got engaged, and we were married for 60 wonderful years," he said. 

Schnormeier frequently traveled for business. Japan became Ann’s favorite country to visit.

“We loved the architecture, the culture, the food. But Frank Lloyd Wright had a great Asian influence, and because of our love for Frank Lloyd Wright, this all sort of came together,” he said.
