DUBLIN, Ohio — It’s smooth sailing on the Scioto River. One stroke at a time, standup paddle board instructor Sarah Sutton is sharing a piece of her west coast roots with Ohioans.

Aqua Flow Fit instructor Sutton first began standup paddle boarding when she lived in San Diego.

“Then moving here, I just wanted to do something and get outside so it really helped me get to know Ohio and explore the waterways and have a good time.”

Now, from June through October, she paddles with students at her side. She loves sharing her passion with those who have never been on a board before.

“It’s so fun just to see somebody get on and face their fears and challenge themselves to do something totally brand new and then feel successful in the end. It’s just an amazing feeling,” said Sutton.

Sutton said in addition to being fun, it’s also a full-body workout.

“I would say the real key is to not lock and load. You have to keep it nice and smooth and go with the flow," she said.

Despite the occasional fall into the water, it’s always a good time.

“Really, there’s not a bad moment. It doesn’t matter if you lose your phone. It doesn’t matter if you lose your kid. We always find a way to laugh and have a good time,” said Sutton.

In addition to standup paddle boarding, Sutton also hosts standup paddle yoga sessions and paddle retreats. For more information, click here.
