New Vista, a long-standing community health service in Kentucky, opened its new Danville center, hosting an event for staff and the community.

“This year marks 60 years that we’ve been providing community mental health to central Kentucky. And I can’t think of a better way to mark the next 60 years than by opening this new facility here in the Danville area,” Dee Werline, president and CEO of New Vista said.

In line with its mission, New Vista offers advanced mental health services tailored to individuals with developmental disabilities or in recovery from substance abuse. Danville is one of 17 counties where New Vista operates.

Anna Duncan has been with a New Vista in Boyle County for over 20 years. She said they’re ready to build more desks, consultation rooms and special spaces for more people.

“That honors our clients that they can come into and feel like this is where I belong. This is where I’m welcome. And then also be able to get a variety of services. Primary care labs, pharmacy, outpatient care group, substance use, individual families to be able to provide all of those,” Duncan said.

New Vista hopes to help more patients with the new space. “We have six full-time clinicians, we’ve got case management, we’ve got community support, associate our primary care nurse practitioner as well as a handful of part-time individuals supporting all of that,” Duncan said.

The new building has multiple office rooms, group rooms, a med-waiting room, and more. This building will also be the second location to offer a pharmacy.

Duncan watched the new building come together and said its final stages are what she’s excited for others to enjoy. The Boyle County site is one of several future buildings to be constructed, a big step for mental health resources in this community.
