Ian Cassette is an AMS-certified meteorologist for the Spectrum News National Weather Team.

His interest in weather began as a kid in Tampa, Florida during the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons, where he watched countless hours of weather coverage during historic storms like Charley, Ivan, and Katrina. Ian studied meteorology at Florida State University and graduated in 2015. He began his career in Topeka, Kansas, where he covered plenty of severe weather. Ian then worked for WDBJ7 in Roanoke, Virginia. There he got a taste of forecasting for the mountains and winter weather. Ian returned to his home state in 2022 and worked for FOX 35 in Orlando, Florida. While there, he experienced a full-circle moment when he covered Hurricane Ian, which brought major flood damage to Central Florida.

Ian enjoys the challenges of forecasting weather but understands the importance of keeping the community safe from the dangers of weather. He aims to bring informative and personal forecasts to all viewers. Outside of weather, Ian is an avid fan of Tampa sports. He loves cheering on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rays and Lightning. He also enjoys music and will frequently go to concerts of his favorite bands when he can.
