The Hawaii men’s volleyball team is back on top after a brief hiatus.

It took just one week for the Rainbow Warriors (20-2, 3-1 Big West) to reclaim their No. 1 ranking in the AVCA Coaches Poll. UH, with a pair of road sweeps of Cal State Northridge, received 17 of a possible 22 first-place votes. No. 2 UCLA received the other five.

Penn State, which jumped Hawaii for the top spot last week, dropped to No. 3 after a five-set home loss to new No. 13 Ohio State.

Also Monday, two UH players received Big West weekly honors. Opposite Dimitrios Mouchlias was named BWC Offensive Player of the Week and middle Guilherme Voss was Defensive Player of the Week for their performances at CSUN.

Mouchlias, who took the offensive award for the second time in three weeks, averaged 3.5 kills, 1.5 blocks and 1.0 digs per set in the two matches.

Voss took his fifth career BWC defensive weekly award after tallying 11 blocks over the two days, or 1.89 per set.

UH plays its last four regular-season road matches this week, at UC Santa Barbara (5-13, 1-4) on Friday and Saturday, before returning for four straight at home.
