HONOLULU — The University of Hawaii at Manoa warns there will be traffic around campus on Saturday as the first game of the UH football season at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex is sold out, according to a news release. The seating capacity for the complex is 9,346.
The game is against Vanderbilt and Timmy Chang's first season as the coach for UH will feature newcomers at just about every position.
A concert headlined by reggae band The Green before the game starts at 2:30 p.m. and kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
In particular, traffic is expected around University Avenue, Dole Street, Old Waialae Road, both directions of the H-1 Freeway, and neighborhood streets near campus.
UH staff along with HPD duty officers will be on surrounding roads to direct traffic.
Tailgating on campus or in the Lower Campus parking structure is not allowed.
For parking, a pre-purchased printed football parking pass is required for Lower Campus lots. Parking gates open at 12:30 p.m. On game day, parking passes may be purchased for Upper Campus lots at the East-West Road parking booth or the Maile Way parking booth for $15.
Rideshare drop-off and pickup is in front of the Center for Disability Studies office on Lower Campus, across from the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
