SANTA MONICA, Calif. — A coalition of parents met Monday in Santa Monica to rally and protest in front of Snap Inc.

They say Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat, needs to do more to protect kids online from gaining access to people selling drugs laced with fentanyl.

Many parents who spoke at the rally have lost their children to accidental fentanyl overdoses.

In a statement shared with Spectrum News, a spokesperson for Snap Inc. said:

“We have continued to strengthen our support for law enforcement investigations and launched new in-app tools and content to raise awareness with Snapchatters about the dangers of fentanyl. In the coming months, we will launch an unprecedented public education campaign with the Ad Council and other tech platforms focused on reaching both parents and young people.”
