NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — A pilot has died following a plane crash in New Philadelphia, Ohio, in Tuscarawas County Tuesday night, the Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed. 

The plane crash happened just after 5 p.m., OSHP said. It was a 1973 Cessna 310Q fixed multi-wing engine that crashed in a farm field in Mill Township. It had taken off from Harry Clever Field Airport at 4:40 p.m., OSHP said. 

OSHP said the cause of the crash, as well as the identity of the pilot, is under investigation. 

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will be conducting their own investigations into the crash.
