AKRON, Ohio — Akron Children’s Hospital announced it will open a “Food Farmacy” on its Boardman campus next week.
The Food Farmacy is a food pantry that will provide three to five days worth of food supply for income-eligible patient families. Monthly visits to the pantry will be prescribed to patient families through primary care and endocrinology practices in Boardman, the hospital said.
The goal of the program is to help children and their families who have chronic health issues, are experiencing food insecurity and lacking resources.
It will be located on the first floor in Building A on the Boardman campus, and it will be open on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A ribbon-cutting for the pantry will be held on Monday at 11 a.m.
