COLUMBUS, Ohio — More than $52 million has been approved for various infrastructure projects by the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, according to a press release.
Here’s a breakdown of the funding:
- More than $9.3 million for a multi-use path at the East Braid Capital Trail in Columbus
- More than $7.3 million in intersection improvements at Trabue Road and Walcutt Road in Columbus
- Exactly $4.5 million for the Emerald Connector, a new bridge over I-270 in Dublin
- More than $2.6 million for the Southwest Regional Medical and Innovation Gateway Overpass, a new bridge over I-71 in Grove City
- More than $9.1 million Cooke Road phase 2 reconstruction in Franklin County
- Exactly $14.4 million for the East Main Street Bus Rapid Transit in Columbus
- More than $4.7 million for the Big Walnut Trail, from Cherrybottom Park to Morse Road, in Columbus
“MORPC received approximately $160 million in funding requests for new transportation projects from across the region,” said Tom Graham, principal planner at MORPC, in the release. “The Attributable Funding Committee worked collaboratively to identify the projects with the greatest regional impact for these limited resources.”
The funding was approved at the commission meeting Thursday.
MORPC said it also “reaffirmed funding commitments for 41 previously approved projects and programs.” You can see a full list here.
“MORPC is working closely with Central Ohio communities to invest in critical infrastructure projects,” said Parag Agrawal, MORPC’s chief mobility and development officer, in the release. “The $52 million commitment will enhance the multimodal transportation network, promote walkable and bikeable neighborhoods, and will enhance roadway safety.”
