A 28-year-old man injured in a Fayetteville police shooting Friday is facing multiple charges.
The shooting happened along Skibo Road near Lake Valley Drive just after 11 p.m.
According to the Fayetteville Police Department, Isiah Shaquil Nichols was driving more than 100 mph in a 55 mph zone along the All American Freeway. Officers attempted to stop and arrest Nichols, but said he resisted arrest and fired a gun.
"In response to the shot fired by the suspect, one officer discharged his duty weapon, striking the subject," police said.
Nichols was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was still receiving medical treatment Monday.
Nichols is being charged with three counts of assault LEO/PO with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating and the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in a shooting involving an officer.
