Another powerful storm system enters the region, affecting our weather in Ohio through the middle half of the week.
It'll be a wild ride with a variety of weather conditions expected.
By Wednesday morning wind gusts may approach 50 mph at times. Wind alerts are in place for parts of northern Ohio until early Thursday morning.
Gusty south winds will continue as well, impacting high profile vehicles and travelers in open areas.
Scattered rain showers and possibly some thunder will redevelop through the afternoon. Temperatures will remain mild for the first half of the day, reaching the 50s and 60s.
Gusty south winds will stick around through much of the day. Top wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph are possible.
Another wave of precipitation develops Wednesday afternoon as scattered showers and potentially some thunderstorms.
There’s a severe weather risk for parts of eastern Ohio, roughly near and east of the Interstate 77 corridor. Some areas included in the low end threat include parts of greater Cleveland, Akron/Canton, Zanesville and Athens. A few strong or severe storms could produce frequent lightning, damaging wind gusts, and hail. There is a nonzero chance for a quick spin-up tornado as well.
Scattered rain and a few storms will quickly transition to wet snow by Wednesday evening in western Ohio, then spread east by Wednesday night.
Temperatures fall fast behind this cold front Wednesday afternoon through evening, and you'll feel it as winds remain strong.
Northwest winds remain a bit gusty into Thursday morning so the feels-like temperatures will drop into the teens.
This will be quite the wild ride after reaching the 50s and 60s early on Wednesday.
Snow showers will taper off early Thursday for most of the state, however, lake-effect snow showers last into the afternoon in northeast Ohio.
While chillier temperatures are expected Thursday and late week, it won’t stay cold for too long. Our long-range forecast has us back into the 50s and 60s again by next week.
