OHIO — Ohio Task Force 1 was activated Saturday evening to respond to the heavy flooding in Kentucky and surrounding states following a wet weekend.
The team said Sunday morning they were told to head toward Frankfort, Kentucky, with more communication to come on their exact destination.
Officials confirmed at least three deaths because of the floodwaters in Kentucky.
The mission leader for this activation is Jim O'Connor who will lead 47 team members, including the water team.
Millions of people in Kentucky, southwestern Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee were under flood warning Saturday into Sunday as a powerful storm moved through the states. Alongside this activation, Task Force Leader John Kaminski has been activated as part of the Red IST group that headed to Cincinnati Saturday evening.
The Indiana Task Force 1 was also activated to respond.
