AKRON, Ohio — For those looking for something to do on President's Day, the Akron Zoo may be the place to visit.

The zoo is offering free admission for all guests Monday, Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The zoo also has free parking.

A temporary exhibit, "Celebrating Black History in Perkins Woods," remains on display and explores how Black Akron residents expanded the John Brown Monument, combatted a plan to move the zoo from Perkins Woods and operated a custard stand near the park for many years.

There will also be a special panel discussion Monday from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the zoo's Nature's View building. The panel focuses on "Emmer Lancaster's Impact on Minority Business Development" with panelists Hazim Abdullah-Smith, Michelle Camou and Veronica Cook-Euell.

The panel is free, but seating is limited, and registration is encouraged. Visit the zoo's website to register.
