COLUMBUS, Ohio — The first day of the year brought a new win for the Buckeyes Wednesday night. They won Oregon at the Rose Bowl, and fans got to kick off the year as winners.
It was the moment of truth at the end as everyone at The Pint House jumped off their seats and cheered for the Buckeyes.
Noah Cooperider was one of the fans who was hanging out with his friends.
“Best feeling in the world you know,” Cooperider said. “We played them at week six and we lost them unfortunately and we came out dine and dash showed up.”
A truly special night for the Buckeyes and a special night for one of the fans.
Wednesday night was Tyler Ronk’s birthday, which coincided with another one of Buckeye’s game.
“Rose Bowl about 25 years ago, my dad was celebrating,” Ronk said. “My mom came (and) said, ‘hey we’re having a baby today’ and it was me.”
The celebration started earlier in the evening as everyone was hyped and ready to watch the game.
“I’m a Buckeyes die-hard fan,” Emma Arnold said. “It’s a great night. We’re celebrating my fiancé’s birthday, and we’re going to continue celebrating all night.”
Cody Englefield, another die-hard fan, said there was a favorite moment.
“It’s when Jack Sawyer is going out there sacking the quarterback,” Englefield said. “I mean that’s the best thing there is out there.”
The Buckeyes now will face Texas Longhorns next Friday.
“I’m flying out to Dallas,” Ronk said. “Actually bought tickets half time to fly down to Dallas.”
What every die-hard fan looks forward to now, are the odds and whether they favor Ohio.
“It’s winning the national championship,” Englefield said.
