OHIO — Our first blast of winter weather continues into the night before temperatures slowly rise on Friday.

  • Heavier snow showers will be confined to southwest Ohio and the Snow Belt of northeast Ohio tonight

  • Snow showers will taper off overnight

  • Precipitation will redevelop Friday but quickly change to rain as temperatures warm
  • Gusty winds over 30 mph will make it feel chilly despite moderating temperatures Friday

A Winter Weather Advisory is out for parts of northeast Ohio near Cleveland and for much of southwest Ohio through midnight.

Snow showers will linger into the first half of the night with some additional accumulations possible. A total of one to two inches of snow is expected across southwest Ohio from Dayton to Cincinnati tonight.

Lake effect snow could pile up from three to five inches just southeast of Cleveland from eastern Cuyahoga County, Lake County and Geauga County before rain begins to mix with the snow late tonight into early Friday morning.

Wind gusts will increase Friday, keeping wind chills in the 30s despite air temperatures warming into the 40s. More precipitation is expected across the eastern half of the state Friday but will quickly transition to a cold rain. 

Calmer conditions are expected over the weekend as temperatures slowly moderate.
