CINCINNATI — FC Cincinnati announced this week that its center back Matt Miazga will be out for the rest of the 2024 season after undergoing knee surgery.

The club said the operation was for reconstruction of his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and meniscus, which reportedly was successful.

Miazga, 28, got injured on June 15 in a game against the San Jose Earthquakes when he went to block a shot on a goal-saving challenge and slid into the post. He has been placed on the Season-Ending Injury List and is expected to rejoin the club for preseason training next year.

Since being acquired by FC Cincinnati in 2022, he has made 68 all-competition appearances for the club, earned MLS Defener of the Year and MLS All-Star honors.
