AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Zoo will be implementing a new price structure in 2024, what they're calling "plan-ahead pricing," according to a post on the zoo's social media page.

Starting Jan. 16, zoo visitors will be able to save money if they buy their tickets in advance, with the post stating that "the earlier you buy, the more you save!"

The zoo's website has a FAQ page, which clarifies that the prices for a day can vary depending on weather, holidays, attendance and whether there's a popular event. 

"Lower-priced days will generally see smaller crowds or have fewer activities available," the website states. "Higher-priced days are usually the more popular, busier days and may have more activities available."

This pricing system will apply to general admission tickets as well as Boo at the Zoo and Wild Lights. The zoo's website recommends visitors purchase tickets early in order to secure the best pricing, as they are cheapest when they go on sale 60 days in advance. Visitors will still be able to purchase tickets at the gate, but that is when they will be the most expensive.

In the FAQ, the zoo notes that the tickets must be used on the date they are purchased for and that they are non-refundable but that it may be possible to reschedule with a $5 fee. 

General admission for zoo members will still be free despite this price change.

"Akron Zoo members will continue to receive member pricing for special events, but prices will be subject to the plan-ahead pricing structure," the website reads.
