CLEVELAND — Ohio's veterans will be allowed to shoot for free at the state's premier public shooting ranges for free on Veterans Day, which falls on Saturday, Nov. 11.

What You Need To Know

  • The event is open to Class A, B and C ranges, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources

  • Veterans can shoot for free at select shooting ranges from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • All others, who are not veterans, that wish to use the public shooting ranges on Veteran's Day must purchase a shooting range permit

The event is open to Class A, B and C ranges, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. 

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Veteran's Day, veterans can visit this shooting ranges for free:

  • Deer Creek Wildlife Area: Corner of State Route 207 and Cook Yankeetown Road NE in Mount Sterling
  • Delaware Wildlife Area: 1110 State Route 229 in Ashley
  • Grand River Wildlife Area: 6693 Hoffman Norton Rd. in Bristolville
  • Spring Valley Wildlife Area: 3570 Houston Rd. in Waynesville
  • Woodbury Wildlife Area: 41384 State Route 541 in Warsaw

In addition, the shooting range permit requirement will be waived for veterans on Class A, B and C shooting ranges. All others who are not veterans that wish to use the public shooting ranges on Veteran's Day must purchase a shooting range permit, which can be bought at all hunting and fishing license outlets. 

An annual permit is $24, but daily permits are $5. 

Staff will be providing eye and ear protection, ammunition and other equipment. 

On-site staff will provide equipment, ammunition, ear protection, and eye protection at these locations.
