COLUMBUS, Ohio — State Issue 1 would enshrine abortion rights into Ohio's constitution. In a forum hosted by Spectrum News 1 in partnership with the Ohio Debate Commission, the Columbus Dispatch, and the Cincinnati Enquirer representatives from both sides of the issue answered questions from Ohio voters and a panel of journalists.

Jessie Balmert, a state government reporter for the Columbus Dispatch and Cincinnati Enquirer explained what Ohioans should know about the proposal ahead of the November 7 election.

Desiree Tims, President and CEO of Innovation Ohio represented the side supporting State Issue 1 and Mehek Cooke, an attorney, political strategiest, and media commentator represented the side against State Issue 1.

The panel of journalists included Karen Kasler, the Statehouse News Bureau Chief and Tyler Buchanan, reporter for Axios Columbus.
