ACCESS, Inc., Akron’s shelter for women, and women with children experiencing homelessness, hosted its first "Adult Spelling Bee" fundraiser on Saturday, October 14.

The event was held at the newly renovated Cabaret Room at House Three Thirty in Akron.

Organizers report that the Adult Spelling Bee resulted in the nonprofit raising more than $56,000, surpassing its original fundraising goal of $50,000.

The event featured 18 teams, made up of three contestants each for the competition. Area companies, city officials, and community residents participated. You can learn more about ACCESS at access-shelter.org.
