COVINGTON, Ky. — Officials reopened the Roebling Suspension Bridge in Covington after a bomb threat closed the bridge early Wednesday morning. The Bomb threat came in through the Covington Police Department.
The U.S. Coast Guard also shut down water traffic under the bridge while investigators cleared the bridge.
According to CPD, the Kenton County Dispatch received a bomb threat from an unknown person. Police said the person specifally threatened the Roebling Suspension Bridge. Covington Police and Fire responded and closed the bridge. Investigators checked the bridge thorought and didn't find any injuries or devices. CPD said no one has been arrested for the threat.
The investigation has been handed over to the Louisville office of the Federal Bureaue of Investigation.
The bomb threat closed down traffic on both sides of the heavily trafficked bridge for hours. The Roebling Suspension Bridge crosses the Ohio River and connects Covington, Kentucky, to Cincinnati, Ohio.
