OHIO — The Ohio general election is Tuesday, Nov. 7, and polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

There are some dates that should be kept in mind before Ohioans head to the polls in person on Election Day. 

Key dates

  • Sept. 22: Military and Overseas Absentee Voting begins
  • Oct. 10: Deadline to register to vote
  • Oct. 11: Early in-person voting begins
  • Oct. 31: Board of elections must receive absentee ballots by 8:30 p.m.
  • Nov. 6: The date mailed absentee ballots must be postmarked
  • Nov. 7: Election Day
  • Nov. 7: Absentee ballots either returned by mail or delivered to local board of elections by 7:30 p.m.
  • Nov. 13: Last day for boards of elections to receive absentee ballots, which must have been postmarked on or before Nov. 6

Early in-person voting

  • Oct: 11-13: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Oct. 16-20: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Oct. 23-27: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Oct. 30: 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 31: 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Nov. 1-3: 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Nov. 4: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Nov. 5: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
