OHIO — It's been six months since a train derailment thrust the small Ohio town of East Palestine into the national spotlight.
A Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous materials derailed, leading to a controlled burn of toxic chemicals. Since then, the town has been the center of a sometimes-political battle over the response to the derailment, calls for rail safety and regulation.
Spectrum News 1 Ohio was joined by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, one of several federal officials to visit East Palestine after the derailment, to discuss.
