EAST PALESTINE, Ohio — A truck carrying 40,000 pounds of contaminated soil from the train derailment site in East Palestine was involved in a crash on SR-165, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

OSHP said the tractor-trailer veered off the road and overturned on its side. It's estimated that 20,000 pounds of the soil spilled out of the truck.

According to Gov. Mike DeWine's office, the local fire department and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency are at the scene. Ohio EPA said the spill is contained and it won't threaten waterways.

SR-165 at SR-617 in Mahoning County and at SR-14 in Columbiana County have been closed off.

The driver sustained minor injuries, according to OSHP.
