Lanser oversees the "UC Votes" program, which seeks to ensure ballot access by encouraging students to become engaged citizens who exercise their right to vote.

The student government worked with the faculty on the campus schedule in order to create an opportunity to vote.

"The idea was to change one of our two reading days during federal election: voting day; So now, all of our students won't have class on Election Day this year," he said.

During the interview, Lanser also discussed the need to ensure that students are educated about voter registration and the process of voting. You can view the full interview in the video box above.
