COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources will release ring-necked pheasants in public hunting areas in late October and November, starting on Oct. 22.

  • More than 14,000 pheasants are scheduled to be released

  • A valid Ohio hunting license is required to hunt pheasants

Each fall, male pheasants are released by the ODNR at 25 public hunting areas throughout Ohio. More than 14,000 pheasants are scheduled to be released this fall.

The daily harvest limit is two male birds; no females may be harvested. A valid Ohio hunting license is required to hunt pheasants and other game birds.

The Division of Wildlife will release pheasants the following dates: Oct. 22, Oct. 29, Nov. 4, Nov. 11 and Nov. 24.

Ohio’s ring-necked pheasant hunting season is open from Nov. 4, 2022, until Jan. 8, 2023.
